How much did Drake win thanks to Gervonta Davis’ victory?
Drake watched the Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia fight with interest after placing a large bet on the contest.
Gervonta Davis came out on top over Ryan Garcia on Saturday night, but he wasn’t the only big winner, as Drake took home a nice payday from the fight.
How much did Drake win thanks to Gervonta Davis’ victory?
Davis defeated Garcia via KO in the seventh round after delivering a body shot that gave him the victory in the highly-anticipated catchweight fight.
As he’s done on several high-profile sporting events in the past, Drake got in on the action by placing a sizeable wager on the fight.
“Tank day aka pay day,” he wrote on his Instagram stories under a photo of the bet slip, which showed him wagering $1 million on Davis winning prior to the fight.
Thanks to “Tank’s” win, Drake took home $1.38 million. He would have won even more money had he not lost three smaller bets.
Drake placed three other bets on the exact round that Davis would defeat Garcia. He put $15,000 each on first, second and third round wins, losing all three.
In the end, Drake ended the night with total winnings of $1,335,000.
Davis jokes about Drake’s bet
After the fight, Davis was asked about Drake’s bet. After joking that he’s going to want half the winnings, he then talked about how the belief pushed him to go for the win.
“Tell him I need half of that!” Tank joked when asked about Drake’s bet. “It’s pretty cool to have people like that believe in me. It made me push even harder, so shoutout to Drake and the rest of the people that back me.
“This is only the beginning for me, I have a bright future and I’m staying humble through it all. What can I say? We done it again tonight.”
Drake also won big at UFC 287
Earlier in April, Drake took home another nice payday after Israel Adesanya knocked out Alex Pereira at UFC 287 to regain the middleweight title.
The rapper placed a $500,000 bet on Adesanya to win, which returned $885,000, along with a $400,000 bet for him to win by knockout, which returned $1.8 million.
“Shoutout to everyone that bet on me but you have to realise that when I step into the octagon I put my life on the line,” Adesanya said after the fight when asked about Drake’s bet.
“That’s the biggest parlay you can ever do. I’m a betting man too so shoutout to stake, we are about to make another deal and get more money.”
