How much money will Liam Payne’s son inherit from the former One Direction singer?
Singer Liam Payne, 31, died last month after falling from a balcony at his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Liam Payne’s seven-year-old son, Bear, is in line to inherit an eight-figure fortune from the pop star, whose funeral is being held in the UK today.
Best known as a former member of the successful boy band One Direction, Payne died last month after falling from a third-floor balcony at his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Payne’s One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan were all expected to attend the 31-year-old’s memorial service, which is taking place in Amersham, south-east England.
What was Liam Payne’s net worth?
There are a variety of estimates of Payne’s net worth at the time of his death, all of which place it in the tens of millions.
According to the newspaper the Daily Mail, Payne had amassed wealth of around $40 million, while Hello! magazine puts the figure at closer to $60 million. The website Celebrity Net Worth, which specializes in calculating the fortunes of the rich and famous, estimates he was worth as much as $70 million.
In addition to earnings from his more than 15-year music career, the Wolverhampton native’s wealth includes income from endorsements such as his partnership with the fashion label Hugo Boss. Real estate - he owned a five-bedroom property in Buckinghamshire, UK - also contributes to his multi-million-dollar net worth.
Payne son won’t receive inheritance until he’s an adult
Given his young age, Bear won’t have access to his father’s fortune for now. His mother, the former Girls Aloud singer now known mononymously as Cheryl, will manage her son’s inheritance until he turns 18, the Mail reported last month.
Bear was born in March 2017, a year before Payne and Cheryl announced their split after two years together. Despite their separation, both parents had on several occasions publicly stated their commitment to raising Bear together and maintaining an amicable relationship for their son’s benefit.
Arrests made over Payne’s death
An toxicology report released by Argentinian authorities revealed that Payne had at least four different drugs in his system when he fell to his death. His autopsy showed he died from “multiple trauma” and “internal and external bleeding”.
Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, Argentinian prosecutors said earlier this month.
