How Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated 12 years of marriage
Ahead of next week’s Coronation, the couple celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary.
Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated their 12th anniversary on Saturday, with the two posting to their joint Instagram account.
The Prince and Princess of Wales kept it short and to the point, captioning a photo of them riding bicycles together in Norfolk, England with the words “12 years”, along with a read heart emoji.
Just like the caption, the two kept it casual in their picture, with Kate wearing blue jeans, a white top and sneakers.
As for William, he wore a dark blue button-up shirt and jeans in a photo that was taken by photographer Matt Porteous last year.
The photo was part of a series of photographs captured of the royal family that was shared last month, which also included snaps on U.K’s Mother’s Day and Christmas 2022.
On Thursday and Friday, the two spent time in Wales abseiling off a cliff, along with ordering pizza and visiting Aberfan Memorial Garden.
William and Kate’s wedding
The two tied the knot back on April 29, 2011 after dating for eight years. They met while they were both students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
They first sparked romance rumors when they were photographed together during a ski trip at Swiss resort in Klosters.
Although they briefly went their separate ways in 2007, they later reunited and announced their engagement to the world three years later.
William and Kate later wed at Westminster Abbey in 2011 in a service that was performed by then Archibishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams.
Kate wore a long-sleeved gown designed by Sarah Buxton for Alexander McQueen for the occasion. She also wore a Cartier Halo tiara that was given to her by Queen Elizabeth II.
The occasion featured two dresses, two receptions, a carriage procession through London and flypasts.
Close to 25 million people watched the ceremony in the UK, with the worldwide audience estimated to be close to two billion.
Since getting married, the couple have welcomed three children: Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 5.
