After Prince Harry and Buckingham Palace confirmed that he will be attending his father’s Coronation as King Charles III next month, sources close to the palace are saying he might not have a warm family reunion.

The Prince will be going alone on what could very well be an awkward family reunion, as his wife, Meghan Markle, and children will be staying behind in California to celebrate his son, Archie’s birthday on the same day.

The family will reportedly be avoiding him

According to sources at the Daily Mail, Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, will reportedly be avoiding his younger brother on Coronation day.

This is seemingly in response to attacks Harry directed towards him both in his memoir ‘Spare’, and in the ‘Harry & Meghan’ Netflix documentary released late in 2022.

Harry’s supporters say that he understands that the upcoming Coronation is a big day for his family, which lead to his decision to go, despite the ongoing controversy between the estranged prince and his royal family. The prince has demanded that his family apologizes for acting as bystanders as the press attacked his wife.

Sources from both camps say that virtually the entire family, except perhaps for Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, will be avoiding him save for basic greetings.

Despite the brother’s ongoing difficulties, it’s believed that Harry and William will potentially put on a good face out of respect for their father.

How is Prince Harry participating in the Coronation?

Prince Harry is reportedly only attending the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6. Sources close to the Sussexes told the Daily Mail that he will not be returning to Buckingham Palace in post-Coronation festivities over the weekend.

Journalist Omid Scobie, who co-wrote the book ‘Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Royal Family’, tweeted that Prince Harry’s trip will be “fairly quick”.

And while nothing has been confirmed, it’s likely that Prince Harry will not play as much of a role in the ceremony as his brother Prince William. Royal biographer Tom Bower claims: “The arguments over the last few days have been very much to minimize his presence in the Abbey.”
