How to visit locations featured in ‘The Last of Us’

Fans of HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ can visit the locations seen in the show by taking a trip to Canada.

Alberta is letting ‘The Last of Us’ fans know how they can visit locations seen in the first season of the series by creating a handy guide for those looking to explore the Canadian province.

Given that the show is the largest film production in Alberta’s history, and one of the biggest in Canada, Travel Alberta is making it easy for fans to visit the places stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey frequent on a regular basis.

The first season was shot entirely in Alberta between July 2021 and June 2022, with the Travel Alberta website stating scenes were filmed across the province, including downtown Calgary, the Legislature Building in Edmonton, Fort Macleod, Canmore, and Calgary’s SAIT and Mount Royal University.

Although only three episodes have aired on HBO so far, Travel Alberta has shown that they are on top of things, updating the article shortly after each episode airs.

For example, the series premiere ‘When You’re Lost in the Darkness” showed off places in downtown Calgary, the Beaver Dam Flats and its Inglewood neighbourhood, as well as Fort McLeod and shops located in the area.

The website doesn’t just list locations. It also adds descriptions of each area, along with a bit of history. The format will continue for the remaining episodes of Season 1.

‘The Last of Us’ has been officially renewed for a second season by HBO, but Travel Alberta notes that it is still to be determined whether the series will return to Alberta, where the production filmed in over 180 locations.

‘The Last of Us’ a hit for HBO

The show’s debut has been watched by over 22 million viewers in the USA, and quickly became a trending topic on social media.

‘The Last of Us’ also saw the largest week-two audience growth for any HBO Drama series, with 4.7 million tuning in to watch on the night of the premiere, followed by 5.7 million the following week.

‘Saturday Night Live’ wasted no time in jumping in on the hype, enlisting Pedro Pascal as host for the upcoming episode on February 4.

It marks Pascal’s first appearance on the NBC staple, and he’ll be joined by Coldplay, who are making their seventh appearance on the Studio 8H stage.

Pascal is hard at work gearing up for the appearance, with ‘Saturday Night Live’ recently releasing a new promo ahead of the appearance.
