Update:

Angie Stone, former member of female hip-hop trio the Sequence who later became a prominent soul singer, has died at the age of 63 in a traffic accident in Alabama.

Reports of the incident say she was driving back from a show with her band members and background singers when her car turned over.

TMZ reported that the accident has left her family ‘devastated’ and Stone’s spokesperson revealed that a number of her client’s loved ones had spoken to her just ‘last night.’

Born Angela Brown in Columbia, South Carolina, Stone was a legendary member of the music world: she was a three-time Grammy-nominated musician - including best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals and best female R&B vocal performance - and perhaps best known for her 2001 hit “Wish I Didn’t Miss You”.

Stone got her break at 16-years-old as a member of the Sequence, the first female hip-hop trio signed to Sugar Hill Records. She went solo in the 90s and and became a fundamental part of the neo-soul movement with her Black Diamond album, which went gold in the United States.
