Improved relations between Shakira and former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué after separation
The Colombian star and the former Spain international have reportedly agreed to call something of a truce for the good of their children.
After more than a year of going through a turbulent break-up, Shakira and Gerard Piqué finally appear to have at relative peace with one another, agreeing to call something of a truce for the good of their two children. Spanish media outlet Vanitatis revealed on Monday that sources close to the singer claim the pair are “following their separation agreement to the letter and there are no longer any arguments or problems”, a message which has been echoed by the former Barcelona soccer player’s entourage.
Shakira “positive and upbeat” amid Lewis Hamilton links
Both have enjoyed being with their children at the agreed times, with the former couple’s relationship, which had been completely broken, having improved somewhat recently. The Colombian star is now said to be feeling “positive and upbeat” following some tough times in recent months and is indifferent to speculation surrounding her potential links to Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, who she has been snapped with on several occasions.
Greater privacy for Piqué and Clara Chía
Piqué and his “new” partner Clara Chía, meanwhile, have been afforded more privacy in the last few weeks after being the centre of media attention when they first went public with their relationship. This summer, they have some time at Piqué's family home in Cabrils, near Barcelona, while they have been refurbishing their apartment in the Catalan capital. They have now travelled to Miami to spend time with the ex-Barça star’s kids before they start school on 21 August.
Shakira “upset” with Piqué over vacations
There have, of course, been plenty of rumours surrounding the true nature of Shakira and Pique’s relationship following their split. On Mamarazzis, a Spanish podcast, focusing on celebrity news, it has been suggested that the Colombian singer was upset with her ex, who “doesn’t take as much time off from work and personal commitments to be with the children during the holidays”.
According to journalists Lorena Vázquez y Laura Fa, “Shakira hasn’t agreed to let the children spend part of their vacation with relatives or ‘third parties’” but she would also “like him to make the effort to take vacations somewhere that would make life easier for their kids”.
Time spent between Miami and Barcelona
The implication is that travelling from their home in Miami to Barcelona is tough on the children, who are aged nine and seven, and a “simple” solution would be Piqué spending more time in the United States, which is the case this month.
So while the pair’s relationship is on the mend, it appears as if there is still some way to go for them to be completely on the same page.
