Drake has cemented himself as one of the biggest names in rap alongside the likes of Dr. Dre, Eminem and Jay-Z.

However the Canadian rapper sent fans into a flurry by recently hinting that his time in music may be nearing an end.

Is Drake considering retirement?

In a teaser clip for an interview with Lil Yachty as part of a promotional video for Yachty’s FUTUREMOOD company, which is set to be released on Friday, February 24, Drake said that he is pondering a “graceful exit.”

“I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna, like, I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day but I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit,” Drake told Lil Yachty, real name Miles McCollum.

Given the length of the clip, there isn’t much context or details on what Drake is referring to.

It’s unclear if the rapper is referring to an exit from music, an exit from livestreaming, or if he plans to step back from the music industry in a permanent manner.

Drake’s successful music and business career

The rapper has been the pacesetter when it comes to his music for the better part of his career.

Many of his nine studio albums, seven mixtapes and numerous EPs, as well as hit singles like ‘Best I Ever Had’, ‘One Dance’, ‘Toosie Slide’, ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Hotline Bling’ have topped the Billboard charts.

He’s also reportedly sold 170 million records worldwide, while registering over 75 billion streams, proof that he has left his mark in the music industry since the start of his career.

Drake’s reach also extends to other ventures. He has his own OVO-October’s Very Own clothing line and retail chain, which he co-owns with manager Oliver El-Khatib and record producer Noah “40″ Shebib. The line has 11 locations worldwide, including in the U.S., Japan and England.

He also has his OVO Sound label which is distributed by Warner. Artists currently signed to the label include PartyNext Door, Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, Dvsn, Plaza, Baka Not Nice, Popcaan, Smiley and Naomi Sharon.

The label’s roots date back to Drake’s first official mixtape back in 2006, which was released under the unofficial record label All Things Fresh, which eventually became October’s Very Own.
