Matthew McConaughey is reportedly in talks to star in a spinoff of the popular Paramount+ series ‘Yellowstone’.

Along with that, Deadline are reporting Kevin Costner is considering exiting the show to focus on directing and starring in the upcoming Western film, ‘Horizon.’

A spokesperson for Paramount Networks told People Magazine that they hope to have both stars be a part of the ‘Yellowstone’ crew.

“We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come,” the network said in a statement.

“Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built.”

The statement adds: “Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”

Another source also tells People that ‘Yellowstone’ creator Taylor Sheridan and McConaughey are interested in joining the screen together.

“Matthew and Taylor are fans of each other’s work and have been speaking about ways they can work together,” the second source claims.

Representatives for McConaughey and Costner have officially yet to comment on the rumors.

Costner’s scheduling issues

According to Deadline, Costner, who had originally limited himself to 65 days of shooting on ‘Yellowstone’, wanted to shoot for 50 days for the first part of the current season.

For the second batch of episodes of the current fifth season of Yellowstone, the actor only wanted to spend a week shooting.

Costner is directing and starring in a multipart western epic titled, ‘Horizon’ which he also co-wrote.

In more recent news, Costner just took home the award for Best Television Actor in a Drama Series at the Golden Globes for his role on ‘Yellowstone’.

Given that Costner has a prominent role as John Dutton, the scheduling issues are reported to be causing morale problems for other stars of the show, including Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, and Gil Birmingham, according to Deadline.

Deadline also reports that Paramount Network declined Costner’s recent shortened shooting proposal, and instead has made the decision to move on the other show.

Allegedly all parties are now working on a ‘Yellowstone’ franchise extension that Sheridan will write and McConaughey will star in.
