On August 20, the second anniversary of her second wedding ceremony, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Lopez listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024, and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
In addition to other measures, the singer requested to remove the surname Affleck from her name and to recover her maiden name in order to return to her former name: Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
Sources with knowledge of the situation told TMZ that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement and did not come to a financial agreement before JLo filed for divorce.
Given this situation, any profit or gain that they have obtained during their almost 2 years of marriage is joint property. According to the documents, Jennifer has waived spousal support and is asking the judge to deny it to Ben as well.
Since they did not have children together, there are no custody issues. However, they could enter into a fierce financial battle due to the lack of a prenuptial agreement. Both will have to agree on how to divide the fortune obtained during their union, which could take some time.
