Jimmy Kimmel teases Oscars preparations ahead of the show

The Jimmy Kimmel Live Instagram account teased a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations made by Jimmy Kimmel ahead of his hosting duties at the 2023 Oscars show.

Taking his hosting duties seriously, Kimmel unveiled a look at the treats being prepared for the Oscars audience, including pretzels provided by Shappy Pretzel Co.

Snacks for the audience and plans for the show

Ahead of the 2023 Oscars show, audience members have the opportunity to snack on pretzels. An up-close look at the bags, exclusive to the Oscars event, says “Eat this. You’re hungry” signed by Kimmel himself.

Meanwhile, a picture of Kimmel reading over the script for the night was also included in the Jimmy Kimmel Live Instagram stories.

The 2023 Oscars awards show marks Kimmel’s third time hosting, his first time was in 2017, and again in 2018. The 2017 show is perhaps best remembered for “envelopegate” when ‘La La Land’ was mistakenly named Best Picture, when the honor truly belonged to ‘Moonlight’.

Despite this, Kimmel joked that at least no one was hit during his hosting duties.

“Nobody got hit when I hosted the show,” Kimmel joked in a Good Morning America interview. “Everybody was well-behaved at my Oscars!”

While Kimmel has spoken about his thoughts on 2022′s “slapgate”, when Will Smith walked up on stage to slap host Chris Rock across the face after he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia, the audience is anticipating what he’ll say about the incident during his opening monologue.

“I think I have some good things to say about it,” he teases to Spencer. “It’s going to be on everybody’s mind: everybody’s going to be waiting for that moment. That will be part of the show, but certainly not the focus of the show.”

Kimmel on the show’s length

“This show is going to be so long, you might get to sleep in the next morning,” the comedian said.

“There’s not a fear, there’s a guarantee. Those categories, they take space. Unless the speeches are four seconds long, it’s gonna be a lengthy night. But hopefully not a long night.”

The Oscars are airing on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. pst.
