Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, one of showbiz’s most beloved couples, are splitting up.

This week, TMZ revealed that Jonas has officially filed for divorce from Turner. According to the media outlet, the 34-year-old singer submitted a petition to end the pair’s marriage at a Miami court on Tuesday.

TMZ also reported that Jonas has hired Tom Sasser, a lawyer with experience of handling celebrity break-ups. Notably, Sasser represented Tiger Woods when the golf legend and his former wife, Elin Nordegren, divorced in 2010.

Party-goer Turner clashes with stay-in Jonas

A source with knowledge of Jonas and Turner’s relationship told TMZ that the chief reason for their separation is the difference in their preferred lifestyles. While the latter likes to go out and party, the insider revealed, the former is the type of person who would rather stay in.

Couple signed prenup before wedding

Per a report in the Blast, Jonas and Turner signed an “ironclad” prenuptial agreement in the weeks before they married in Las Vegas in 2019.

Under the terms of the prenup, Jonas will keep all his earnings from his two bands, the Jonas Brothers and DNCE, while Turner will walk away with the money she has made from Game of Thrones and other projects in her acting career.

According to the website Celebrity Net Worth, which specialises in calculating stars’ fortunes, Jonas’ wealth is estimated at around $50 million. Turner’s net worth, meanwhile, reportedly stands at around $10 million.

When it comes to property, the only house that will have to be divided up in the divorce is Jonas and Turners’ marital home, the Blast says. Any other property is set to go to the individual that owned it before the marriage.

Child custody a key issue to be decided

While many details appear to be covered by their prenup, Jonas and Turner will have to come to an agreement on the custody and upkeep of their children. The couple have a three-year-old daughter, Willa, and a one-year-old daughter whose name has not been revealed.

Per the Daily Mail, Jonas is seeking joint custody in his divorce petition.
