Julia Fox reveals secrets of Kanye West romance in memoir, ‘Down the Drain’
Actress Julia Fox has opened up on the strangest moments of her brief but eventful romance with Kanye West.
Actress Julia Fox has revealed all about her brief yet jam-packed romance with Kanye West, a time she calls a “sick, twisted game” for the Dark Fantasy and Heartless rapper. The 33-year-old has written her memoir, entitled “Down the Drain”, which highlights plenty of events about her life, including her whirlwind relationship with the artist.
“Dozens” of phone calls were sent her way after she met West, who she only calls “the artist”. She says everything happened after a friend asked if he could pass her number to “a famous artist who’s been asking about me.”
While she called the beginning of their relationship “something special”, she also remarked that at the start, it was West who took control, with the actress saying that he spoke for most of the time, with Fox only “occasionally chiming in. When he does listen to me, he loves my ideas and thinks I’m really smart.”
Fox shocked by West’s direct advances
The first meeting between the two came after Fox initially declined an invite to a party - until West chartered a private jet for her and some friends. They met in a club and, without speaking, they hugged as West held her close, with “his hands scanning the folds of my body”.
The couple left the club where “the artist starts peeing on the wall and I quickly jump in front of him... ‘You better not take any pictures!’” she shouts at people watching. The next day, Fox and West went on a date to a restaurant, where Kanye bluntly asked the actress if she wanted to be his girlfriend as a photographer snapped casual photos of the couple. It was then that Kanye asked Fox about taking the relationship public before setting her up with a stylist. The next day, Fox was woken up by a text from a Page Six reporter, who had photos which made the 33-year-old wonder if West himself had leaked the images.
The stylist came in, and “I’ll get you a boob job if you want”, was West’s reply after Fox commented that one of the items of clothing she had been told to wear went better with a bra. The story continues: the day after, West sent photos to a reporter and wanted Fox to write a paragraph in a magazine of how the two met: “I feel like he’s using me in some weird, twisted game,” Fox writes in her memoir. “It makes me feel dirty.”
Kanye’s strange behaviour continues
Another strange example of Kanye’s behaviour came at her own birthday party, when West turned up with designer handbags for her and her friends: “We do as we’re told and awkwardly throw our arms up and scream for joy as he stands off in the background, looking on with pride... As we pose like puppets, I question his true intentions, feeling that this grand gesture is nothing more than a publicity stunt.”
The next morning, Fox texted West that she was ready to break up, with Kanye reportedly responding “If you loved me, you would support me” before reminding Fox she never signed the NDA he had given her: “I can’t be friends with you if you don’t sign it”.
“I’ll live”, replied Fox.
