Kamala Harris reveals Super Bowl beef with Taylor Swift
After Harris’ TV debate with Donald Trump, Swift revealed she would be voting for the Democrat in the 2024 U.S. election.
Ahead of the 2024 United States presidential election, Taylor Swift firmly nailed her colours to the Kamala Harris - Tim Walz mast, not exactly a surprise given her well-known disapproval of Donald Trump. After the pop superstar’s endorsement of the Democratic candidate, Harris has responded in kind, although it turns out the pair don’t see eye to eye on absolutely everything.
Why is Taylor Swift supporting Kamala Harris?
Following Harris’ TV debate with Trump on September 10, Swift revealed she would be voting for the former “because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos”.
A whole host of famous faces liked Swift’s post, including Oprah, WNBA star Caitlin Clark, Selena Gomez and Jennifer Aniston.
Now, Harris has returned the compliment in an interview with Wired, in which she responds to the most common Google searches for her name, one of which includes the “Shake It Off” singer.
Harris responds to Swift endorsement
“I’m very proud to have her support of Taylor Swift. She’s an incredible artist. I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right,” the current Vice-President says.
The 59-year-old did, however, explain the two were very much on opposing sides at Super Bowl LVIII, in which the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers.
Swift, of course, has been dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for a little over a year and has become a regular fixture at NFL games around the U.S., when not on tour. Harris, on the other hand, hails from Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, which means she was left disappointed back in February at Swift’s expense.
“But we were on different sides of the Super Bowl last year. I am a 49ers fan, but who’s mad at anyone for being loyal to their team, right? So there you go.”
Harris and Swift have now teamed up, in a manner of speaking, in an effort to take down Trump, a foe they both have in common. On November 5, joy or disappointment will be shared.
