Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss song leaked: is it AI?
A purported leak of the Compton rapper’s upcoming diss track has flooded social media, but things may not be what they seem.
Kendrick Lamar’s diss track against Canadian rapper Drake has leaked online - or has it? Since the audio flowed through social media like a tidal wave, one question has been asked over and over again: it it AI?
Unfortunately, it seems that this time, AI is the winner. While the music is coming and it looks like there will be various rounds, the desire for constant updates means we’ve got a ‘Cold War’ going on in the virtual world, with various people using online platforms to get one up on behalf of their favourite rapper.
We’ve had Drake leaks and a semi-official Drake drop (’Push Ups’), but last night, it was Kendrick’s turn to come under fire. The rapper was criticised for using a ghostwriter when an alleged demo of the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers track ‘N95′ performed by CJ Francis surfaced online.
Did Kendrick Lamar use a ghostwriter?
These claims were soon debunked by Francis himself, who said on Instagram Stories that: “I had nothing to do with that song. Nor do I have anything to do with it being posted online.”
Daylyt confirms Kendrick diss song is AI
As for the song leaked earlier today, Rapper Daylyt, who recently featured on J Cole’s ‘Might Delete Later’ mixtape, tweeted that the song said to be written by Lamar was “10000% ai”.
Using a stark lack of both punctuation and capital letters, the California artist responded quickly to the rumours, saying that the track which attacked Drake by saying “one rap n-a dead, laid on the floor. And I didn’t have to throw bullets for him to go. Now that we got that out of the way, it’s one more to go” was indeed generated by AI.
Soon after, NFR Podcast also said that sources had told them the version spread on social media was made by AI. Soon after, RapTV announced that “sources close to the situation confirmed its illegitimacy to RapTV. Checking the song with an AI-checker also confirms the song is made with AI.”
Drake’s second track ‘Hi Whitney’ created by AI
This comes after Drake reportedly leaked a second diss track against the real ‘N95′ rapper, in which he threatened he would turn “K Dot into K Pop”. Complex confirmed that the track was also created by AI.
It seems that either people are incredibly keen to get new music out, fool online rap fans or play the game for their preferred rapper. Stay up to date with the latest confirmed news on AS USA, where we stay away from AI production.
While we wait on Kendrick to officially drop his diss, what’s certain is that the hype around hip-hop has not seen anything like this in a long time. We all feel a long-awaited sense of exhilaration around the music scene that was desperately lacking. I guess J Cole apologising wasn’t that bad after all.
