Lana Del Rey channels Marilyn Monroe in first full concert in almost four years
The singer took the stage in Brazil over the weekend, playing at the MITA Festival.
Lana Del Rey hit the stage for her first full concert in almost four years over the weekend after performing at the MITA Festival 2023 in Rio De Janeiro.
Dressed in a blonde wig that seemed to be a nod to Marilyn Monroe, the 37-year-old performed several songs from her latest album, ‘Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’.
The show was noteworthy in that Del Rey has only made appearances on late-night talk shows over the past few years, only performing with Bleachers at the High Water Festival in South Carolina earlier this year.
Her performance in Brazil is the first time Del Rey has performed a full concert since November 2019.
Del Rey was honored last year
Last year, Del Rey was honored with the Visionary Award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music.
Her debut album, ‘Sirens’, was released back in 2006, but it was her 2014 album ‘Born To Die’, which made her a household name.
“I don’t exactly have a long-term vision at all, but if you were curious, I am very, very happy,” she said while accepting the award.
“When I released my first album 14 years ago, the waters were not quite as warm. I’m really happy for everyone who feels like it’s a wonderful time in the culture to be themselves and express themselves. It didn’t feel that way in 2008.”
While Del Rey has largely opted to stay out of the spotlight in recent years, she has kept busy in her personal life.
Reports state she is engaged to Evan Winiker, a managing partner at Range Media who looks after talents like Disco Biscuits, MAX and Daya.
The rumors began when Del Rey was spotted waring a huge diamond ring at the Billboard event.
Del Rey also had several prized possessions stolen from her last year, which prompted the singer to tell fans not to listen to any leaked music.
“A few months ago, I parked my car on Melrose Place — actually Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles — and I stepped away for a minute,” she said in a since-deleted Instagram Live video.
“Please don’t listen to the music if you hear it, because it’s not coming out yet.
“Obviously I won’t ever leave anything in the car again, even if it’s just for a moment. But we’ve had the same issues at the house, and it is a constant thing. And although I’m so grateful to be able to share all of the good stuff, I just also want to share that it has been a challenge.”
