What is Lollapalooza?

Lollapalooza is Chicago’s annual summer music festival typically held in Grant Park. The four-day festival takes place on August 3 to 6 this year and usually brings in up to 400,000 thousand patrons.

The festival was launched by founder Perry Farrell in 1991 as a touring festival but eventually settled down to its home location in Chicago. Lollapalooza was the first festival to bring together a wide range of different genres of music along with art and activism.

The festival is also significant due to its efforts to offset carbon emissions and its recent introduction of family-friendly programming.

This year the festival brings back the Kidzapalooza, which is described as a “music playground” within the festival with family-friendly activities according to the festival’s new release.

Hulu will also return as the official streaming platform for the select performances from the four-day festivities. Hulu will also be producing behind-the-scenes interviews with artists and more from the festival.

Four-day pass tickets for the festival went on sale today and range from $365 to $4350 before tax and fees. Single-day passes and more specific tickets will go on sale at a later date.
