Love in NYC: Will Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift attend Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Jets in NFL’s Week 6?
Spotted in New York and now seemingly an official couple, there’s a good chance we will see the pop icon and star tight end at the Eagles’ game on Sunday.
With his brother in the ‘Big Apple’ to try to help his Philadelphia Eagles maintain their perfect record, one could say the Chiefs star has a good reason to be there as well, to support his sibling. What you might not have known, is that the new lady in his life is actually a fan of the visiting team.
From dinner to SNL, Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift are official
On Saturday night, pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce were spotted holding hands while enjoying dinner at Nobu restaurant in New York City. If that wasn’t enough, the new couple made separate appearances on Saturday Night Live later in the night. Where Kelce is concerned, the 34-year-old made a cameo at the conclusion of a sketch in which the NFL’s intense focus on their romance was parodied. Swift on the other hand, introduced musical guest Ice Spice’s second performance during the show.
Will Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift be at the Eagles vs Jets game?
As you probably know, the Philadelphia Eagles for whom Travis’ brother Jason plays, are in town to face the New York Jets this weekend, and with the Chiefs on a bye week so too is Travis, as evidenced by the above-mentioned dinner and appearance on Saturday Night Live. Now, while there has been no official word on whether the couple will attend, it’s widely suspected that they will and not for the reason you might think. Yes, there is the factor of brotherly love as we know the Kelce brothers are very close - they even host a podcast. Yet, what you might not know unless you’re a Swifty is that the “Anti-Hero” singer is actually a fan of the Eagles herself.
So, Taylor Swift is a Philadelphia Eagles fan?
That’s right. Despite the fact that prior to Thursday night’s kick-off, Swift was spotted wearing a red Chiefs jacket in the team’s locker room as Kelce and Co. prepared to take on the Denver Broncos, she is in fact an Eagles fan. Not surprising for someone who happens to be from Philadelphia. Interestingly, Swift has even immortalized her love for the team by referencing them on one of her tracks. In her song “Gold Rush” from the record “Evermore”, she sings the line: ‘I see me padding ‘cross your wooden floors, with my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door.’ Interestingly, some fans thought that she was referencing the band, The Eagles, however she put any doubts to rest during her show in Philadelphia back in May.
“I don’t know how large the debate was, but I did see the debate,” Swift said at the time. “I have a lyric that says, ‘With my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door.’ I saw some people wondering if it was the band the Eagles or the team the Eagles, and I love the band the Eagles, but guys, come on. I’m from Philly. Of course, it’s the team.” Should they attend the game on Sunday afternoon, it sounds to us like Swift will be cheering for another Kelce which makes us wonder if that could be a problem going forward. Remember, Travis’ Chiefs defeated Jason’s Eagles in the Super Bowl back in January, something we have to imagine Swift wouldn’t have enjoyed. The Eagles are one of only two undefeated teams left in the league - the 49ers are the other. There may be a test of Swift’s football allegiances on the horizon. Watch this space.
