Matthew Perry’s final words come to light on the day he would have turned 55
The actor would have turned 55 today, 19 August, and through court documents accessed by ‘TMZ’, new details of his death have emerged.
Matthew Perry was one of those actors who will always be remembered for his captivating performances on the small screen. As the quick-witted Chandler Bing, he brought the spark and irony to NBC’s hit sitcom Friends, about a group of young professionals sharing a New York City apartment who conquered, and continue to conquer, the world, through television.
Today, Monday 19 August, Perry would have turned 55. It’s almost one year since was found unresponsive in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home - his premature passing sending shockwaves around the entertainment world.
His death that was initially thought to be due to cardiorespiratory arrest, but after an autopsy was performed, it was determined he suffered organ failure due to a ketamine overdose. It has since emerged that he had been addicted to the drug for several years.
Arrests made relating to Matthew Perry’s death
An investigation was launched to clarify the details of the tragic event. An inquiry that has resulted in five people being arrested, including his personal assistant, two doctors, and two drug dealers. All of them, with various charges relating to the death of the actor.
Perry received three doses of ketamine on the day of his death
Now, thanks to court documents obtained by US portal TMZ, new details about the investigation have been revealed, such as that on the last day of his life he had consumed ketamine, and that he asked his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, for three doses of the drug.
Perry’s last words, according Iwamasa’s own statement, were “shoot me a big one” in reference to one last dose of ketamine. The assistant then returned to work while Perry got into the jacuzzi where he was later found face down.
Iwamasa was not the one who injected the drug, but rather Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who usually traveled to the actor’s residence to do so. He was also arrested for Perry’s death, accused of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and altering and falsifying medical prescriptions.
Plasencia also referred to the actor as a “moron” in different conversations with some of the detainees, referring to the substantial amounts of money they could get from the actor for the drugs he was addicted to.
