Update:

If you’re planning on entertaining at home this summer and out of ideas when it comes to making a dessert, fear not - Martha Stewart has you covered with the simplest recipe imaginable.

Stewart is, of course, a woman of many talents, which she has shown through her numerous professional ventures, many of which have been linked to the worlds of cooking and catering.

Martha Stewart’s one-ingredient dessert

And it appears that one such talent is making an entire dessert out of just one ingredient - Coca-Cola.

Although a ‘granita’ might sound exotic and elaborate, the reality is that there isn’t much to it, even when more adventurous versions than Stewart’s are taken into account.

A granita is a semi-frozen dessert originating from the southern Italian island of Sicily, usually made with water, sugar and fruit juice, or sometimes with coffee. Its crystalline texture is achieved by freezing and then scraping the mixture of the above ingredients, which is then served into a glass.

Stewart has simplified the recipe even further for her Coca-Cola granita, as she explained in a video shared on Instagram and YouTube.

How to make Coca-Cola granita

All you need to do is pour a liter of Coke into a container that is suitable for storing in your freezer. After it has frozen, which should take around 30 minutes, remove it from the freezer, “scrape” and “fluff” it with a fork, creating ‘Coca-Cola crystals.’

Serve it in a glass, and you’re ready to go.

So, if you’re short on time but still want to impress your guests, Stewart’s one-ingredient granita is the perfect way to keep things cool, simple and refreshingly unexpected.
