Paris Hilton talks trauma in her new memoir
‘Paris: A Memoir’, tells the story of Hilton’s early years, including her traumatic experience in a so-called boarding school.
Paris Hilton’s upcoming book, ‘Paris: A Memoir’, to be released March 14, is a deep dive into the iconic heiress’ past, including the abuse she experienced at Provo Canyon School as a teenager.
Even the singer’s husband, Carter Reum, hasn’t read the whole book yet, only a section at a time, because Hilton says “it’s a lot”.
The ‘Paris’ memoir
While promoting her new memoir, Paris Hilton sat down with the TalkShopLive stream to discuss the book.
Hilton said that one of the topics she discusses in great detail is that “anything is possible’, and that she wrote it all down for the public to read so that it may help other teen girls like she was, who are going through similar trauma.
“In the book I really go into depth about what happened to me at Provo Canyon School and being there and experiencing that trauma, and being told by the staff in these places that I would never amount to anything.”
“I want anyone to know who has been through what I’ve been through in the troubled teen industry at these types of – I don’t even want to call them schools — these hellholes,” Hilton said. “That you are not your trauma, and you can really use that to give you the drive to make things possible.”
“I feel like what you put out into the world will come back to you.”
A deep dive of the boarding school
During the 45 minute chat, Paris shared about her upcoming ‘very personal’ book that reveals the trauma she dealt with as a teenager, as she was forced to leave home in the middle of the night and taken to a “boarding school” that abuses teenage girls.
“I talk about my entire life and everything that I’ve been through. And it’s definitely difficult to do, to have to re-live some of the moments but also fun moments, too,” Hilton explained.
“I’ve been in this industry for over two decades now and for a lot of the time the media was the one telling my story. And a lot of the times it wasn’t true or was exaggerated or just completely invented,” the entrepreneur continued.
“And now, especially with this book, I am taking back my power and my narrative and telling the true story. Because there’s just so many misconceptions and lies and just stupid rumors out there that aren’t true.”
“And I just tell what really happened.”
