Add Paul Rudd to the list of celebrities who have taken an interest in Wrexham after he was spotted in town on Saturday.

Ryan Reynolds’ club are gearing up for a title decider when they take on Boreham Wood later today, as a win would secure promotion to the Football League.

Rudd poses for picture with fans

Ahead of the game, The Turf pub was the place to be with plenty of fans in attendance, as well as Rudd.

The actor joined Wrexham fans at the establishment and even took pictures with them, all while enjoying a pint.

He even went inside for a drink with landlord Wayne Jones, while pointing out that he recognised several faces inside the establishment thanks to the hit Disney+ series, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

Rudd the latest A-lister to show support for Wrexham

Rudd isn’t the first Hollywood A-lister to make the the trip to North Wales to watch Wrexham.

Back in February, Will Ferrell made the trip over to see the team in action.

Like Rudd, Ferrell got the whole Wrexham experience, as he was spotted enjoying a drink with fans and strolling through the stadium ahead of the team’s match with Wealdstone.

“Are we recording?” Ferrell said in a video posted to the team’s Twitter account, in which he is seen combing his hair with his fingers, making sure he is ready.

“Hi, this is Will Ferrell and it’s my first time here,” he says.

“Where are we again? Wrexham. I’m really excited to see the match and I’ll be honest with you, I’m a little nervous.”

Wrexham to expand stadium

With the success of the Disney+ series and the trickle of Hollywood celebrities taking in matches at the Racecourse Ground, it’s no surprise there are plans to build a new stand.

Wrexham council have pledged to reallocate a “substantial amount” of a £25 million Welsh government grant to the plan.

The news comes weeks after the UK government’s Levelling Up Fund rejected an application for funding.

The development, called the Wrexham Gateway project, will also be helped by the Football Association of Wales and Transport for Wales.

A key part of the plans is improving rail, bus and car connectivity for Wrexham, as well as a new hotel and conference facilities, as well as office space.
