Wrexham AFC executive director Humphrey Ker has totally exposed Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney the boys never leave the Wrexham locker room.

Like schoolboys among the stars

Reynolds and McElhenney bought the soccer club in 2021 and are well on their way to ushering the team into the professional league.

Ker, the team’s exec, told Talksport that he couldn’t get the Hollywood pair out of the team’s dressing room, and they act as though they can’t believe they are allowed in there.

The hands-on owners reportedly go to every length to oversee the team’s progression, even helicoptering the team in their dressing room — but Ker is glad to have that kind of personal investment in the North Wales soccer team, and acknowledges that it’s part of a much bigger plan to bring Wrexham to global stardom.

“We like to do things a bit differently at Wrexham,” Ker said. “I heard about Todd Boehly going into the Chelsea dressing room, and the one thing we’ve tried to really foster at Wrexham is the relationship between the players, the management and the ownership – that we’re all in this together pulling in the same direction.”

Rob and Ryan are never out of the dressing room,” the exec revealed, “to be honest, when they are over [from the United States].”

“They wait until after the game, but they still have this giddy schoolboy thing that they can’t believe that they are allowed in there.”

Aiming for the big leagues

The executive director praised Reynolds and McElhenney’s work with the team since their takeover a few years ago.

“I know that kind of connection is one they are really proud of and we are really proud of,” Ker said. “We hope it makes it a fun place to come and play and watch and generally a fun place to work, which has got to be a good thing.”

Wrexham AFC is one win away from making the National League title and advancing to the professional league in Tier Two.
