Pink has recently expressed her disappointment over the attention her former feud with Christina Aguilera has received in comparison to news regarding her new album ‘Trustfall,’ which she recently released.

The feud between Pink and Aguilera took place over 20 years ago over who would be singing specific parts of the song ‘Lady Marmalade’ for the movie adaptation of ‘Moulin Rouge!’

“With me, when you’re a certain age and a woman, they tell you that what you do doesn’t matter, really, anymore, so just do what you do,” Pink told Billboard.

“And I’ve kind of always felt like that – at 16, I felt like that. But I don’t write songs for other people. I’m very narcissistic when it comes to songwriting, in a very pure way.”

Pink continued: “I write what needs to be written for me, and if somebody else can relate to it, then that’s awesome. We’re all having this human experience, and we’re not all that different.”

It’s water under the bridge

Renewed interest in the old feud came about when Pink was asked to rank her music videos and placed ‘Lady Marmalade’ at the bottom saying that it “wasn’t very fun to make.”

In a lengthy Instagram post, the singer wrote: “I’m so saddened and disappointed by the narrative surrounding some of the press I’ve been doing around my album ‘Trustfall’

“While some of the responsibility lays with me any my inability to lie, and my uncanny ability to overshare- my real disappointment lies in the fact that the art can never be the focus when you’re a woman.

“The fact that I created one of the most beautiful albums with the most beautiful people -sang my ass off, made myself wholly vulnerable – eleven albums in, selling out stadiums, raising good kids, steadily employing hundreds of good, hardworking people, the only thing they ask you about over and over is a silly feud from your twenties,” Pink concluded.

In the years after ‘Lady Marmalade’ the two reconciled and have publicly shared positive statements about one another.

‘Trustfall’

‘Trustfall’ is Pink’s new album which was released on February 17 and features 13 tracks. This is her first studio album since ‘Hurts 2B Human’ which was released in April 2019.

‘Trustfall’ debuted at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, thus marking it her ninth top 10-charting album.
