Should I stay for the end credits after Moana 2? Is there a teaser?

Memorable songs, bright animation and clever jokes are all guaranteed, but what about a little treat when the action comes to an end?

Memorable songs, bright animation and clever jokes are all guaranteed, but what about a little treat when the action comes to an end?

When you head to the theater for Disney’s Moana 2, you might find yourself wondering if it’s worth sitting through the credits or rushing out as soon as the lights come on to beat the rush.

As you know, hence why you’re here, Disney, as well as others, has a reputation for sprinkling surprises into the post movie moments, often linked to sequels, and this time around is no different, although you won’t have to wait all the way to the end. Here’s what you need to know.

Is there an end-credits scene in Moana 2?

OK, so technically, the answer to this question is ‘no’. There’s no post-credits scene at the very end of Moana 2. However, and sorry for being a stickler for meaning, there is a mid-credits scene that’s worth hanging around for, which teases where the franchise could go next and brings back a familiar character.

Did you know? The Moana 2 trailer set a record for the biggest animated trailer launch in Disney history, receiving 178 million views in 24 hours

What happens in the Moana 2 mid-credits scene? (spoilers ahead)

The mid-credits scene delivers a setup for what looks like a potential Moana 3. Matangi (the bat-like ally from the movie) confronts Nalo, the stormy villain who has now taken on a human form. Nalo makes it clear that their plans are far from over.

But just as things get serious, Tamatoa – remember the singing shiny crab villain from the first movie – crashes the party. This shifts the tone, adding a comedic edge as he hints at teaming up with Nalo to take on Moana. How to tease your audience!

What other credit teasers are shown?

There’s more! Disney also offers a small teaser, although not for Moana. Instead, it’s a hint at Zootopia 2, set to release in 2025. The teaser is simple: an image of a snake, presumably a nod to a new character or storyline in the upcoming film.

So don’t forget. Enjoy Moana 2 (littl‘uns optional) and then stay around for the credits to roll as you’re treated to some bonus footage.
