Police visit Britney Spears’ home after video emerges of her dancing with knives

This week, police visited Britney Spears after she sparked worry among her fans following a video she posted of herself dancing while holding kitchen knives in her hands. She appearing later with bandages on her forearm, as well as visible injuries on other parts of her body.

Police sources confirmed to TMZ that they received a call expressing worry over Britney for her recent behaviour on social media. As a result, agents from the Ventura County Sheriff department made their way to her home where they carried out a “wellbeing control”.

Officers spoke to Spears’ security

According to the informants, the call to carry out the check came from a member of the LAPD Smart Team, a group of officers who take charge of issues relating to mental health.

Once officials arrived, they spoke to Britney’s security, who assured she was OK, but she did not want to talk; the agents soon left. According to the media outlet, Spears’ lawyer called the police later in the day, asking about the visit, and the agents assured that they only carried it out as the call was made by someone who knows the Toxic singer.

Britney says she was copying Shakira

In a later post on social media, Britney declared that she was only copying a part of Shakira’s presentation in the MTV Video Music Awards at the start of the month.

The Colombian put on a show in which, in one part, she danced while holding daggers, in what appeared to be a nod to an Arabian dance known by some as the ‘dance of the daggers’. Various people on social media believe that Spears enjoyed the video and as a result, tried to copy the Colombian.

According to TMZ, Britney has a fascination with knives. When her conservatorship ended, those taking care of her gave recommendations to ensure her safety, one of which was to keep knives away from her. Sources told the outlet that Britney “keeps them all around her house, including her bedroom”.
