Priyanka Chopra is finally opening up about how her botched nose job surgery almost ruined her career and her life.

When she was first beginning her acting career, Chopra underwent nose surgery after her doctor recommended it as a way to get a polyp in her nasal cavity removed.

In a recent interview on the Howard Stern Show, the ‘Citadel’ actress revealed how the procedure went south and ended up taking a toll on both her mental and physical health.

“It was a dark phase,” Chopra said. “This thing happens, and my face looks completely different, and I went into a deep, deep depression.”

Because of her botched nose, Chopra went on to explain that she felt her film career was “over before it started,” due to the fact that she struggled to find roles and was fired from three different jobs following the surgery.

Chopra had her family and friends’ support

Despite going into a deep depression and becoming hesitant towards surgeries, Priyanka’s late father, Ashok Chopra, pushed her to look past her fear and receive corrective surgery on her nose.

“I was terrified of that, but he was like, ‘I will be in the room with you,’” she said. “He held my hands through it and helped me build back my confidence.”

Along with receiving support and love from her father, Chopra also had words of wisdom from her old Bollywood director Anil Sharma.

“I was supposed to play this lead, and I was shifted to a supporting character,” Chopra said. “That filmmaker was very kind.”

“He—while the tide was against me—said, ‘It will be a small part but give it your all.’ And I did.’”

Chopra is keeping busy with ‘Citadel’

While speaking out about her surgery experience, Priyanka also took the time to promote her latest project which is now available on Prime Video called ‘Citadel’.

According to the official synopsis, the show follows “The global spy agency Citadel after it has fallen and the memory of its agents has been erased. Now, the powerful Manticore crime syndicate is filling the power vacuum. Citadel agents must remember their past and find the strength to fight back.”

Chopra, who plays the leading role of Nadia Sinh, revealed that her entire experience on this set was very “demanding” but ultimately taught her she “can do anything I put my mind to.”

“This was a very demanding show, physically, spiritually and emotionally,” she told E! News. “We shot it in 2021 and it’s five years in the making. Here the show is, we trained for over a year and a half for this show.”
