Reactions to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ video apologizing about assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs recorded a video in response to footage released by CNN which showed him assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.

The rapper, who has been in the news headlines multiple times over recent weeks and months, was caught on camera kicking and punching his ex-partner in a hotel corridor. The footage also shows Combs shoving and dragging Ventura across the floor of the hotel, as well as throwing a glass vase towards her.

‘I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses”, Diddy said to the camera. “So difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you got to do that. I was f***ed up. I mean I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses, my behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video, I’m disgusted”.

I was disgusted then when I did it, I am disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I am committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I’m truly sorry.”

Combs ‘compelled to ‘apologize’ once denials were proven false’

Ventura’s lawyer spoke out after the video was published, saying “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday.”

“That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words,” Meredith Firetog concluded.

Actress Emily Ratajkowski took to Twitter to show her disgust at the assault video, simply writing the word: “Monster”.

As for 50 Cent, one of Diddy’s peers in the rap world, he commented on the apology, saying “This is not going to work, who is advising him right now? SMH bad move.”

Diddy’s former bodyguard then admitted that he thought Diddy’s actions in the assault video were indicative of his behaviour towards women: “I’ve seen this [of] this nature before. I’ve gotten in between things of this nature before. You can’t just say anything you want to say and think that people are going to accept it. I think it’s a ‘god syndrome’. He knew the cameras were there and he came back to the hotel and he paid to get the footage. When you go through life paying your way out, I feel like he wasn’t sorry. He’s sorry now, he’s sorry that he got caught.”
