Singer Martin and his Swedish-Syrian husband have revealed in a joint statement that they have decided to end their marriage after six years.
Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin and husband Jwan Yosef are to divorce after six years of marriage, the couple announced on Thursday.
Martin and Yosef to “end marriage with love, respect, and dignity”
In a joint statement, Martin and Yosef, who have four children together, said: “For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect, and dignity for our children - preserving and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all of these wonderful years.
“Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on our genuine friendship as we continue the joint upbringing of our children.
“As always, we thank you for all the love and support we have received throughout our marriage. We are united in nurturing this new chapter of our lives.”
According to People magazine, divorce proceedings are already officially underway.
Couple married in secret ceremony in 2017
Martin met Yosef, a Swedish-Syrian painter, in 2016, and the couple married in secret late the following year. The singer publicly revealed that they had tied the knot in early 2018, telling E! News: “I’m a husband, but we’re doing a heavy party in a couple of months, I’ll let you know.”
