Saturday Night Live makes fun of Donald Trump’s visit to Ohio
The episode, which was hosted by Woody Harrelson, began with a cold open about the former American president.
The latest Saturday Night Live episode poked fun at Donald Trump’s recent disastrous Ohio visit.
On February 3, a train derailment caused massive fires that called for prompt evacuations in East Palestine, Ohio. Trump rode into town promising justice, but instead, he ended up blasting current U.S. President Joe Biden.
Many saw the former President’s actions as taking advantage of a horrible situation to get into the people’s good graces for the next U.S. election.
The Saturday Night Live sketch
The SNL sketch featured James Austin Johnson and emphasized Trump’s voice and mannerisms in a fake C-Span press conference.
“It’s wonderful to be here in the town of East Palestine,” Johnson said in the sketch. “Not a great name.
“But I had to come here and see these wonderful people who have been abandoned by Biden. He’s on Spring Break in the Ukraine with his friend Zelenskyy in the T-shirt, very disrespectful.
“Zelensky thinks he’s rocking that ringer tee like Scott Pilgrim. But I’m here and I brought hats. Cameras and hats.”
They briefly mentioned some of the environmental and health concerns surrounding the incident.
“Earlier today a farmer came up to me, big fella, and he said ‘Sir, we have nothing to eat because our dirt is poisoned’. And I said, well, what are you doing eating dirt?
“Don’t eat dirt, folks. Don’t eat the dirt. You should be eating the cold McDonald’s I brought you. And the bottled water, Trump Ice. I’ll be honest, I just put my sticker on some Dasani.
“I was looking at your river and it’s so shiny. I’ve never seen water so beautiful. Beautiful rainbows and discolorations, it’s great.”
Sketch even referenced Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance
The sketch even referenced Rihanna and her Super Bowl halftime performance, which Trump called an “epic fail”.
“It’s wearing makeup. Fenty Beauty water. Fenty by Rihanna. Rihanna. By the way, you know she was pregnant doing Super Bowl, can you believe that?
“I said of course she was, she’s not moving at all. It was just arms, right?”
The skit ended with Johnson announcing his exit: “I’m gonna get out of here soon, ‘cause the air is full of poison.”
