Schwarzenegger believes the Terminator predicted the scary future of AI
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor and former politician, says that James Cameron’s films peeked into the future we are experiencing today.
Terminator and its sequel (The Last Judgement) are two of the best sci-fi action movies ever, according to many polls taken by buffs. It is one of the works for which we most remember the unique attributes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the charismatic actor whom we recently saw inviting a famous streamer to train with him, and whom we have seen in all kinds of fields, including a rather successful stint in US politics.
The Terminator saga created by James Cameron in 1984 told us how the human race was threatened by machines, giving us a potential glimpse into the terrible world when people succumbed to being controlled by artificial intelligence. And that is precisely what Schwarzenegger believes today: that AI will end up taking over, for example, when it comes to carrying out our work. It is a fear of being expendable.
Schwarzenegger: "It's already happening"
The protagonist of Terminator is clear that the work of James Cameron when conceiving the story was “extraordinary,” since at that time, movies only “scratched the surface” of artificial intelligences, what would happen to them in the future. Something that, in a way, “has come true” as time has progressed.
Schwarzenegger heaped praise on Cameron: “I can only take credit for playing the character, but it is he [Cameron] who created both him and the film. That is why he is, as you know, the number one director in the world.”
