‘Scream VI’ trailer is here and both new and old faces are returning

The sixth film in the horror-slasher franchise will be available in theaters on March 10.

Update:
The sixth film in the horror-slasher franchise will be available in theaters on March 10.

Horror movie fans can start to get excited now because on Jan. 19 Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group released the first full-length trailer for the upcoming film ‘Scream VI’.

The trailer shows that Ghostface is back but he’s playing a different game with his victims this time around.

When the first ‘Scream’ movie came out in 1996 it quickly became a modern horror classic, and made around $173 million worldwide and received many positive reviews. Following the success of the first film the franchise continued to grow, and with the release of the sixth film coming soon, it has since grossed over $740 million worldwide from box-office receipts.

What is Scream VI about

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the sixth film in the ‘Scream’ franchise picks up where the previous film left off.

After the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding) and Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in the city that never sleeps… New York.

Although this may seem like a positive new chapter in their lives, it quickly turns dark once the group realizes there’s a new Ghostface in town.

Just from the trailer fans are pulled right into the drama of the story when Sam and Tara are seen begging for anyone’s help in a convenience store after a run-in with Ghostface. In true Scream nature, the scene seems to turn into a bloodbath very quickly once Ghostface walks in. Not only does he stab one bystander, but also shoots another with a shotgun.

The trailer also shows Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) who is clearly tired of being hunted when she picks up a phone call from the killer and states “You know you’re like the tenth guy to try this right, it never works out for the dipshit in the mask.” That may be true for the past film villains, but the newest Ghostface seems to think otherwise when he quickly responds “Maybe, but there’s never been one like me Gale.”

From start to finish the trailer shows that the film will be filled with action sequences, the return of old characters, a group plan to take down Ghostface, and eerie moments that will bring the true ‘Scream’ movie fear to fans.
