Shakira offers to pay for school in Miami for children’s friends from Barcelona
Worried about how kids Milan and Sasha would settle in in Florida, the Colombia star made their school friends’ parents an unusual proposal.
There can be little doubt that Colombian superstar singer Shakira is a devoted mother to children Milan and Sasha, who she shares with ex-partner, former Barcelona soccer player Gerard Piqué. And her latest act again proves she would do anything for them settle into their new home in Miami following their move from Spain.
What did Shakira’s Miami school “package” include?
Moving to a new city, country and indeed continent could potentially be a traumatic experience for anyone, let alone a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old. In an attempt to make the transition as smooth as possible, Shakira met with the parents of her two kids’ friends at their previous school in Barcelona and offered to pay for them to go school in Miami for a year alongside Milan and Sasha, according to Spanish media outlet Vanitatis.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer’s special “package” not only included paying for the children to spend the 2023-24 school year in Miami, but also covered their costs of living, childcare and even entertainment.
Did any parents accept Shakira’s offer?
Vanitatis claim the parents in question weren’t sold on the idea, despite the attraction of a foreign adventure. Shakira reportedly then offered to help them find work in Miami in an effort to convince them, but none ultimately took her up on the offer. That perhaps shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as her children’s now former classmates presumably already come from wealthy families considering the €1,500 ($1590) per month tuition fees per child in Barcelona.
