Shaquille O’Neal makes a bold prediction about the relationship between the NBA’s hottest couple: “Six weeks”
When asked about the newest couple hogging the cameras, NBA great O’Neal gave a blunt reply on his podcast this week.
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t appear to have high hopes for Klay Thompson’s budding romance with rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
‘Shaq’ forecasts summer split
Speaking on Monday’s episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, O’Neal offered up a brutal prediction for how long the high-profile new couple will last.
“Six weeks,” was O’Neal’s two-word response when podcast co-host Adam Lefkoe brought up the news of Thompson and Megan’s relationship.
“You don’t see it lasting until the fall?” Lefkoe then asked the retired former Los Angeles Lakers star. O’Neal replied by repeating: “Six weeks.”
Klay and Megan make red-carpet debut
Thompson, a four-time NBA champion who plays for the Dallas Mavericks, stepped out in public with Megan for the first time last Wednesday, at the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York.
As the couple walked the red carpet at Gotham Hall, Megan spoke glowingly of her new beau, telling Page Six: “I have never dated somebody so kind.”
The three-time Grammy winner added: “This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy.
“I just never dated somebody like him before and I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”
Rumors of a romance between Thompson, 35, and Megan, 30, first surfaced in early July, when the former Golden State Warriors favorite was spotted in the background of a photo she shared on social media.
Thompson then confirmed their relationship early last week, posting photos in which the pair can seemingly be seen kissing and holding hands.
“Such a special person”
Last Wednesday’s event in New York was held in honor of Megan’s late parents, Joseph Pete III and Holly Thomas, whose memory inspired the Texan musician to create the Pete & Thomas Foundation.
On its website, the foundation describes itself as “a non-profit organization focused on uplifting and assisting women, children, senior citizens and underserved communities in Houston, Texas and across the world.”
Speaking to Us Weekly at Gotham Hall, Thompson said: “Megan is such a special person and she inspires so many around the world. I’ve seen it firsthand.
“This is just another incredible feat of hers to be able to give back, create [a] foundation, and raise a ton of money for those in need. And I’m honored to be here by her side.”
Megan told Us Weekly: “I feel like my mom would’ve been like, ‘Wow, you finally picked a nice man!’
“We kissed a lot of frogs, but now we got a real prince! I feel like they would be very proud. My dad would be very happy.”
