Shaquille O’Neal threatens Rihanna haters
Big Shaq had some heavy words for anyone who criticizes Rihanna following her Super Bowl LVII comeback halftime show.
Shaquille O’Neal thinks that there should be a law against people who criticize Rihanna for her Super Bowl LVII performance, and that instead people should just keep their mouths shut and leave her alone.
O’Neal emphasizes that it is other superstars “causing beef”, and the former basketball player threatened people who speak out against the 34-year-old singer, especially rappers, presidential candidates, and celebs with one or two million followers.
Super Bowl freedom
O’Neal, who only saw Rihanna perform for the first time on February 12 when the pregnant ‘Umbrella’ singer made her big comeback at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, a 13-minute stint that earned her 118.7 million views, insists that people have too much freedom when it comes to criticizing A-List celebrities like Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Halle Berry.
On his podcast, ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq’, the 50-year-old told Candace Parker that Rihanna haters have gone too far in criticizing the singing superstar, and that there is too much freedom of speech in the world.
“We living in a world where people got too much freedom,” O’Neil declared vehemently. “Keep your [...] thoughts to yourself.”
Shaq says leave Rihanna alone
Shaq O’Neil ranted for several minutes about how everybody just needs to leave Rihanna alone, and affirming the singer for her performance despite the haters.
“She is my woman, and if I see one of you superstars do that, I’m gonna have to get at ya,” the former basketball player said. “Rappers, presidential candidates I’m gonna have to get at ya. Leave this woman alone.”
“We should have a law,” O’Neil continued. “Like Me, I mess with people all the time. You can mess with me, I’m cool with that. Beyoncé and Rihanna don’t mess with nobody. Halle Berry. Leave them people alone.”
Big Shaq continued to mention other names of celebrities he feels need to be protected from the speech of others.
“Oprah. Tyler Perry. Jay-Z. Leave them people alone,” he repeated. “Just Keep it to yourself. Especially if you’re another superstar, you’ve got a million or two follows, like now you’re just causing beef.”
“Beef that you don’t really want. Leave them people alone. Seriously.”
Rihanna performs while pregnant
Not knowing Rihanna was pregnant before the show, O’Neil thought that it was great that she got up there and performed, even when Parker pointed out that she was suspended 30 feet in the air.
“Rihanna is Rihanna, I was there it was beautiful she did a great job. I didn’t know she was pregnant until she bust out, but leave her alone,” he said.
“She did a wonderful job, she’s pregnant, she blessed it, she did her thang, she didn’t fall. Just leave it there. All you superstars that’s disrespectful and causing beef, shut your face. Shut it up.”
