Do you need to watch ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ before ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3?

With so much overlap between the two shows, here’s what you need to know before season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’.

Season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ is set to premiere on Wednesday, but fans are confused by the latest trailer, which insinuates that a major plot point was resolved in the show ‘The Book of Boba Fett’.

Is it necessary to watch this series? With overlapping plot points, characters, and settings, fans may be relieved to know that they only need to catch up on a couple of episodes to be prepared for what season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ has in store.

What is ‘The Book of Boba Fett’?

‘The Book of Boba Fett’ is a spinoff series based on ‘The Mandalorian’ that focuses on the character Boba Fett, a bounty hunter with a decade-spanning career. He is the clone of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, who raised Boba as his son.

The series finds Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand attempting to control parts of the galactic underworld when they arrive at Tatooine to take over land formerly ruled by the deceased crime lord Jabba the Hutt.

What episodes should you watch from ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ before starting ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3?

Because ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ is a spinoff of ‘The Mandalorian’, Din Djarin was naturally set to make an appearance in the series, along with Grogu.

Fortunately for fans, in order to be up-to-date with what happened between the end of season 2 and the beginning of season 3, only the last three episodes of ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ need to be watched.

These are episodes 5 ‘Return of the Mandalorian’, episode 6 ‘From the Desert Comes a Stranger’, and episode 7 ‘In the Name of Honor’.

The creators of the show seemed to have realized that some fans would be lost, resulting in this clip that sums up in 40 seconds what happened to Din Djarin during ‘The Book of Boba Fett’.

When to watch ‘The Mandalorian’

Season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ will premiere on the Disney+ streaming platform, with episode 1 dropping at 3 a.m. EST/12 a.m. PST.
