‘Super Mario Bros’ projected to earn $225 million worldwide

Universal Pictures’ ‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ is anticipated to perform exceptionally well. Critics estimate the animated movie will earn an impressive $225 million worldwide upon release.

‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ is based on the original Nintendo game, and follows Mario as he prepares to go up against the powerful Bowser. The star-studded Los Angeles premiere took place at Regal LA Live.

Currently, Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ is the highest-performing MPA film for a worldwide opening this year, at $225.3 million. Critics believe ‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ could easily come out on top.

The movie is set to debut in the United States on Wednesday, April 5, as well as in other countries like Australia, China, and France. The film will expand its release on Friday, April 7 to the UK, India, and Brazil, among others.

The first round of reviews from fans and moviegoers are in - and everyone is loving the new Nintendo movie. The animated film seems true to the spirit of the original video game, whilst putting a fun spin on some characters, like Jack Black’s Bowser.

“This isn’t just another video game movie, it’s one of the BEST family films ever!” one fan tweeted.

Viewers are loving all the easter eggs hidden throughout ‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’, a nod to the original material.

“Nintendo fans are going to be obsessed,” another fan gushed.

‘Super Mario Bros’ hosts star-studded premiere

‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ boasts an impressive cast, including Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), and Jack Black (Bowser). The cast had fun on premiere night this past Friday, with many actors dressing up as their characters.

Pratt and Day wore red and green suits, respectively, to resemble the outfits of their characters, Mario and Luigi.

Taylor-Joy’s red carpet stole the show. Walking the red carpet in a Christian Dior custom Peach-inspired racing jumpsuit, her outfit is playful and fitting for her character.

Black also brought his A-game to the LA movie premiere. He wore a custom Bowser suit, complete with spikes sticking out from his back.
