After two years together, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce got down on one knee and proposed to global superstar Taylor Swift—something fans had been eagerly anticipating since Super Bowl LIX. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the couple wrote in their engagement announcement on social media.
The post shows the newly engaged couple enjoying the emotional moment in a rose-filled garden. The photos, straight out of a movie—or a music video in true Fearless style—have already taken the internet by storm, with Swift’s stunning engagement ring stealing the spotlight.
A Ring Fit for a Pop Icon
The engagement ring was co-designed by Kelce and Kindred Lubeck, a jewelry designer at Artifex Fine Jewelry. It features a rectangular Old Mine-cut diamond with vintage flair, set in a yellow gold band.
While the exact weight and cost haven’t been officially confirmed, jewelry experts at Marie Claire estimate the ring weighs between 10 and 15 carats. Given its size and setting, they believe it’s worth between $750,000 and $1 million.
For the occasion, Taylor wore a striped halter dress by Ralph Lauren priced at $398, paired with gold-toned accessories and brown Louis Vuitton heeled sandals. Kelce opted for a black polo shirt and khaki pants.
Househunting in the Buckeye state
Weeks before the engagement news broke, local media in Cleveland, Ohio, reported that the couple had been house hunting in the area. According to sources, they toured “at least two opulent homes” in upscale suburbs. As Cleveland Scene put it, these are the kinds of neighborhoods “where wealth is abundant and babies are born with fully funded 529 plans—just in case they don’t land a lacrosse scholarship or skip college altogether to become full-time dog trainers.”
