Taylor Swift makes generous donations to food banks while on the road for ‘Eras Tour’

Though the star is picking up momentum with her ‘Eras Tour’ shows, Taylor Swift is finding a way to give back to the community and help people who frequent the local food banks as she tours from city to city.

Taylor Swift surprised a local charity with a significant donation the day she kicked off opening night of her ‘Eras Tour’ in Arizona, and sent further donations to a food bank in Nevada ahead of her upcoming weekend shows in Las Vegas.

Swift is in the first week of her 2023 ‘Eras Tour’, her first concert tour in four years. The Grammy-award winning singer kicked off her tour Friday, March 17 in Arizona, and will be touring the US and abroad until November with her 44-song set-list.

Taylor Swift makes a difference in Arizona

Arizona Food Bank Network unexpectedly received Swift’s donation just before she took the stage opening night. The organization took several days to verify the donation was real, as they were in such disbelief that they had received such a hefty sum of money from Taylor Swift.

Terri Shoemaker, vice president of external relations at the Arizona food bank, told local outlet AZ Central what it was like to receive a call from Taylor Swift’s team.

“It’s not every day that you get a call from someone who works for Taylor Swift,” Shoemaker said. “So we were dubious at first, but happily, it turned out to be absolutely real.”

Shoemaker revealed that she was told Swift plans to continue making similar contributions across the country as she performs her string of sold-out shows.

A food bank charity called Three Square in Las Vegas, Nevada has already received a donation from Swift, ahead of her weekend shows in the area this weekend. The organization took to Instagram to thank Swift.

“We don’t know about you,” the food bank wrote on Instagram, “but we’re feeling grateful on this day, March 22!”

“@TaylorSwift has made a generous gift to Three Square, allowing us to provide thousands of meals to families and individuals struggling with hunger,” the organization continued in the post. “Thank you to Ms. Swift for supporting our mission and the local community.”

Swift is back with flying colors

The 33-year-old superstar returned to the spotlight after a long break from touring, and rocked the stage like she had never been away.

“I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that if you’re here tonight,” Swift called out to the audience during opening night, “there’s a pretty good chance that you went through a considerable amount of effort to be with us tonight. Is that true?”

“Well, first of all,” Taylor Swift continued, “let me say, on behalf of me and every single performer that you see on this stage — all the band, all the crew, every single person who has been putting together this tour for years — thank you from the bottom of our hearts for wanting to be with us on night one.”
