Taylor Swift’s warning to Travis Kelce ahead of the Super Bowl: “yeah, not going to Bourbon Street”
Kelce will feature in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, the scene of the lowest point of his career, as Swift reminded him.

The Kansas City Chiefs are being hotly tipped to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles to win their third consecutive Super Bowl, but Travis Kelce has been warned against celebrating a potential victory - or perhaps drowning his sorrows? - in one of New Orleans’ best-known hotspots by girlfriend Taylor Swift.
Kelce and Swift were at the front and center of the Chiefs’ celebrations when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas 12 months ago. Should Andy Reid’s team achieve a historic ‘three-peat,’ expect similar scenes, just not on Bourbon Street.
After Kansas City defeated the Buffalo Bills to clinch the AFC Championship and a place in the Super Bowl, the couple were heard discussing potential postgame plans with the tight end’s mother, Donna.
“Take me back to my old New Orleans home. I owe New Orleans a little something…,” Kelce expressed.
What happened to Travis Kelce in New Orleans?
The 35-year-old is thought to have been referencing an incident which took place on the eve of the 2010 Sugar Bowl, which cost Kelce the chance of playing for the Cincinnati Bearcats against the Florida Gators in New Orleans.
The Chiefs star’s football career was thrown into jeopardy after he tested positive for marijuana, which resulted in him being suspended for the entirety of the 2010 season. “I was down in New Orleans, listening to Lil Wayne, and I wanted to smoke what he was smoking,” the NFL star told Vanity Fair in 2023.
Taylor Swift’s Super Bowl warning for Kelce
Swift jokingly warned her boyfriend not to risk falling into the same trap following this year’s Super Bowl, quickly responding: “Yeah, not going to Bourbon Street”.
Kelce is clearly a changed man these days, however, promising to steer clear of any Hand Grenades (a cocktail exclusive to five nightclub bars in New Orleans’ French Quarter). “Yeah, I won’t be having as much fun that night,” he claimed.
We’ll find out whether Kelce and Swift are celebrating or commiserating in The Big Easy on February 9. Just not on Bourbon Street.
