Update:

While many Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles fans will be tuning in to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 9, several others are there just for the spectacle. The game, the ads, the halftime show - all of it is part of the grand extravaganza.

With the game less than two weeks away now, some of the Super Bowl ads have started to be released online early. One of those includes an ad which features singer/actress Hailee Steinfeld putting breasts at the forefront.

“Give breasts the attention they deserve”

Steinfeld has partnered with pharmaceutical company Novartis to encourage women to stay informed about their breast health. The 15-second spot features Steinfeld and comedian and breast cancer survivor Wanda Skyes.

In the ad, the camera zooms in on the chests of cheerleaders in New Orleans as well as Mardi Gras partiers before moving to a quick shot of Skyes and then Steinfeld in a long, black dress with a deep, plunging neckline as she tells the camera, “let’s give breasts the attention they deserve most”. A website - YourAttentionPlease.com - is then displayed on screen.

The website provides information about breast health and allows women to take a quiz to learn about their own personal risks. It also features the ability to set reminders to schedule routine screenings.

“We pay so much attention to breasts yet 1 in 2 women don’t get their annual breast screenings* that can catch cancer early, when it’s most treatable,” the website says.

Breast cancer is the second-most common type of cancer in women, and the Super Bowl ad is meant to bring awareness about the importance of staying informed, and encourage women to take the risk assessment quiz on the website.

“I, like so many people, know somebody that has been affected by breast cancer,” Steinfeld said in an interview with PEOPLE magazine. She spoke about the importance of bringing “awareness to breast cancer and the importance of knowing your risk and prioritizing your breast health. [It] was something that was of the utmost importance to me personally and something I consider a great honor to be a part of.”

Skyes wrote in a press release about her own personal experience with breast cancer and what being a part of his ad campaign meant to her.

“When I was 47, I went in for a breast reduction expecting a straightforward surgery,” said Skyes. "I never imagined breast cancer would be lurking. It totally caught me off guard, and I’m pretty sure early detection saved my life."

“As an avid football fan, I know the big game is the perfect time to remind women to know their risks, get checked regularly, and encourage others to do the same,” Skye continued.

While breast cancer awareness campaigns like Susan G. Komen’s “save the tatas” have been criticized for completely missing the mark and focusing on the wrong thing (save lives, not tatas), Steinfeld says she feels “empowered” to be bringing the right kind of attention to breasts through this advertisement.

“It was so empowering to lean into the fact that there is such a fixation that society has created around women’s breasts, and taking that and using it in a way that changes the narrative and turns that attention on the more important aspect behind women’s breasts,” Steinfeld said. “And that is our breast health, and encouraging people to do the simple task of going to yourattentionplease.com, taking an assessment, and understanding their body, and their risk and their history."
