Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children, continue to be the center of attention as their grandfather, King Charles III, prepares for his royal coronation on May 6.

The children, nine-year-old Prince George, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who is four years old, have received an exclusive gift, ‘The King’s Pants’ — a children’s book yet to hit shelves — from a prominent author and illustrator, Nicholas Allan.

‘The King’s Pants’ children’s book

‘The King’s Pants’, illustrated with watercolors, is a sequel to his book, ‘The Queen’s Knickers’, which he published in 1993 — celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. It is a hilarious story about a king and his favorite underpants.

The author and illustrator of the book, Nicholas Allan, explained how the book came to be. Apparently, the author had had it laying around for a while, waiting for the opportune moment.

“I initially wrote and illustrated ‘The King’s Pants’ a long time ago, but like an old pair of boxer shorts it has been sat at the bottom of my drawer for many, many years,” Allan said, “a royal book in-waiting, and now I feel it is the right time for the story to be royally enjoyed, for our new King’s Coronation.”

What is ‘The King’s Pants’ about?

In the book, the king can only perform his royal duties when he wears his special pants — which he has for every occasion you can think of. His collection of special underpants includes Organic Pants and an inflatable pair of Space Pants — but most importantly, his Coronation Pants.

The conflict in the tale is when the king’s pants get posted online for all to see — losing their special charm for the king. How will he rule now that his underpants have been exposed?

In the ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’-style book, children will find out how the king solves the problem and what exactly is the moral of the story.

Wales sends a response

The Wales’ office responded to the thoughtful gift with a personalized thank-you note.

“[The book will be] thoroughly enjoyed by each of the children,” the thank-you card read.

‘The King’s Pants’ — still unpublished, hence the exclusive nature of the gift to the young princes and princesses — will hit the presses on April 6.
