Prince William and Kate Middleton are making concerted efforts to build up Prince Louis, their youngest child and “double spare”, who isn’t likely to ever ascend to the throne.

While his elder brother, Prince George, is first in line of their generation, the Waleses youngest children will have a much different upbringing than their big brother.

Avoiding past mistakes

Royal expert Tom Quinn has revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales are prepared to make an “enormous effort” to keep Prince Louis from feeling any less important, as they are aware of the psychological and emotional effects a “spare” might feel and want to prevent the “mistakes made in the past” by The Firm.

“I think they will make enormous efforts to make sure that Louis doesn’t feel like a lost soul,” the ‘The Gilded Youth’ author said, emphasizing that Prince William and Princess Kate will do everything they can to shield Prince Louis from a future like his Uncle Harry’s, who is estranged from the royal family.

“I think because the royal family now is so aware of the mistakes that they’ve made in the past, especially with bringing up children,” Quinn explained.

A second opinion

Meanwhile, royal commentator Angela Mollard says that the Wales family are striving to portray a united family front to the public to keep their younger children, especially Prince Louis, who is most vulnerable as the “double spare”, from becoming an “offshoot” as Prince Harry had, when he stepped away from the family in 2020.

“The whole brand of the Waleses is very much, ‘we’re a family, we do it all together. We do not want an offshoot like Harry in the future’,” Mollard told Sky News’ The Royal Report.

Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’

Prince Harry, William’s younger brother, has spoken openly about the trauma of being a spare in his 2023 best selling tell-all memoir named ‘Spare’.

The 38-year-old has even expressed his concern over the youngest Wales children having a similar issue when it comes to the ‘spare’ problem.

The royal coronation

With King Charles III’s royal coronation coming up May 6, all three Wales children are expected to make an appearance.

The occasion will be the first time little Prince Louis will be old enough to attend.
