‘The Mandalorian’ surprises fans with several celebrity cameos

Season 3 of the hit Disney+ show is continuing its growing list of surprise appearances.

Update:
‘The Mandalorian’ surprises fans with several celebrity cameos

Fans of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise got a surprise when two unexpected stars were added to ‘The Mandalorian’ universe in the latest episode.

Which celebrities made surprise cameos?

Lizzo and Jack Black made an appearance in Season 3, Episode 6 titled ‘Guns for Hire’. The episode follows Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Grogu, and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) as they track a group of Mandalorians to the planet Plazir-15.

This independent planet isn’t part of the New Republic, and it’s thriving after the fall of the Empire. But before our trio can hunt down any Mandalorians, they’re quickly ushered into the planet’s palace, where they meet the glamorous rulers of Plazir-15.

Plazir-15 rulers, Duchess and Captain Bombardier, are played by Lizzo and Jack Black, who obviously give this performance their all, seeing as both are big fans of the series.

The duo plays a wealthy married couple who oversee the independent planet. Bombardier explains that he’s a former Imperial officer who participated in the New Republic’s amnesty program after the war.

After journeying to Plazir-15, he fell in love with the elegant Duchess, and together, they rule the planet as part monarchy, part democracy.

Lizzo and Black on set

It’s clear that the pair had great chemistry and plenty of time to joke around with each other, especially when they spend the episode delivering hilarious lines such as: “For now, you must live in exile on the moon of Paraqaat!”

Lizzo even got to live her fangirl dream and share the screen with Grogu, who she dressed up as for Halloween in 2021.

In the episode, Grogu uses his Force powers to help Lizzo win at space bocce ball, and later, Lizzo picks up a sword and declares that Grogu is now a knight.

Adding to ‘The Mandalorian’s’ list of celebrity cameos

Lizzo and Black aren’t the first celebrities to pop up in ‘The Mandalorian’, and they certainly won’t be the last.

Christopher Lloyd also joined them in Episode 6 as the villain behind the droid malfunctions on the planet.

As for last week’s episode, ‘Grown Ups’ actor Tim Meadows appeared in an episode as a New Republic officer.

In another episode, Ahmed Best, who is best known for voicing Jar Jar Binks in the prequel trilogy, appeared as the Jedi Kelleran Beq.
