The 600-square metre estate at the top of Laurel Canyon, from which you can see the entire city of Los Angeles, has been put up for sale by the actress.

Jennifer Aniston, Rachel from Friends, has become a world star and a name in her own right. But as she built her reputation in the cult series, she lived in a mansion that is now up for sale once again. The emergence of Friends in the 90s was a significant economic injection for all the members of the group who shared coffee and made memories together in Central Perk.

The property is known as ‘The Crown Jewel’, and was built in 1936 at the top of Laurel Canyon, a neighbourhood perch from which Los Angeles can be gazed upon and a building that served as a home for other acting stars such as Corbin Bernsen and Amanda Pays.

A house with a legendary Spanish tenant

Although the property looks completely restored and has an aura of Californian modernity to help it blend in, the location at 2114 Kew Drive has never gone unnoticed. Nearly 600 square meters make up the land to form a place of elite North American luxury: the residence has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a pool and another guest house that shaped like the letter A, for Aniston.

All the buildings create a bungalow complex that is knows as ‘Nestor’s Nest’, a reference to one of the former owners, Spaniard Néstor Almendros, winner of the Oscar for best photography in 1978 with Days of Heaven.

The property offers views of LA, which attracted Aniston

The uniqueness of the home was what first attracted the actress, who only had to look at the Californian horizon on the hill to realise that this was the place she wanted to live.

While the main house allows a view of the entire city with floor-to-ceiling windows, the guest house is no garden shed and offers cozy wooden ceilings and walls combined with a fireplace that makes it a perfect place to spend the winter months wrapped up warm.

How much is the property worth?

As icing on the luxury cake, the pool house features a gym, a rooftop loft area and a minibar in the bungalow. Aniston’s presence there gave a new value a place that, in itself, was certainly already worth a high price.

The last person who called it home decided to move to another residence in 2020 and, since then, it has remained up for sale. In its day, the last tenant acquired it for $2 million: today it costs half a million more. That’s the price of living like Jennifer Aniston in the 90s.
