Sydney Sweeney can’t seem to stay out of controversy. After her polarising campaign with American Eagle, the Euphoria star is once again under fire—this time for reportedly being romantically linked to music manager Scooter Braun.
According to Star Magazine, the 27-year-old actress and the 44-year-old businessman first met at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Italy. Shortly after, they were spotted walking together through Venice. A source told the outlet that “Braun has told those closest to him that he’s dating Sweeney, but he’s asking them to keep it a secret for now.”
Once the tabloid confirmed the alleged relationship, videos of their stroll in Venice began resurfacing online. Although Sweeney and Braun don’t appear particularly close in the clips, the news has already stirred heated debate on social media. But why exactly is this rumored connection sparking so much backlash?

Why is Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun’s rumoured relationship causing controversy?
Even though neither Sweeney nor Braun has confirmed the romance, speculation alone has fuelled a storm online. One of the main points of criticism is their 17-year age gap.
Beyond that, Braun remains one of the most polarising figures in the music industry. Despite managing major stars like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, many of his top clients cut ties with him between 2023 and 2024—fuelling speculation about his management style and a possible career crisis.
Braun also became a central figure in Taylor Swift’s long-running dispute over her masters. In 2019, he acquired Big Machine Label Group, giving him ownership of Swift’s first six albums.
