On Monday, The Weeknd gave fans a sneak peek at new music he’s been working on via Instagram Live, including a new song that features the distinct voice of rapper Future.

It’s only been a year since The Weeknd released his fifth album, ‘Dawn FM’ last January, but he seems set to give fans new music for the summer.

Completing his second album trilogy

The new songs are being overseen by legendary music producer Mike Dean, who is also a talented saxophone player. He took out his sax during the Live, playing over the recorded song.

While The Weeknd hasn’t officially announced that a new album will be released anytime soon, he has previously stated in a tweet that his last two albums ‘After Hours’, released in 2020, and ‘Dawn FM’ are part of a trilogy of albums

This echoes the treatment of his earliest mixtapes released in 2011, ‘House of Balloons, ‘Thursday’ and ‘Echoes of Silence’, becoming his first compilation album called simply: ‘Trilogy’.

Not the first time The Weeknd and Future have worked together

The Weeknd and Future first worked together as guests on the 2015 song ‘Drinks on Us’ by producer Mike Will Made It from his album ‘Ransom’, which also featured Swae Lee.

The duo came back together a year later, with The Weeknd joining Future on the song ‘Low Life’ from Future’s album ‘EVOL’. Future returned the favor, featuring on The Weeknd’s song ‘All I Know’ from his album ‘Starboy’.

In 2017, they collaborated once again for the song ‘Comin Out Strong’ on Future’s album ‘HNDRXX’.

The Weeknd teases possible Coachella appearance

In an Instagram story, the ‘After Hours’ artist shared a photo of Dean with a desert emoji followed by a question mark.

He tweeted the same caption on Twitter.

With Coachella beginning this weekend, fans are taking the posts as a hint that he’ll be making an appearance at the famous music festival.
