This is the emotional tribute that the 2026 Oscars are preparing for Robert Redford
The Academy is in talks with this legendary actress to include her in the tribute.

Hollywood is preparing to give a fitting farewell to a legend like Robert Redford. The actor died on September 16 at 89, leaving behind a legacy filled with box-office hits and an organization that became essential in discovering future talent. For the 2026 Oscars, the Academy is preparing a heartfelt tribute led by a very familiar figure.
Streisand for Oscars tribute to Redford
Barbra Streisand is the choice to lead the centerpiece of the tribute to Robert Redford. Sources cited by Variety say the Academy is “in talks” for the actress and singer to take the microphone during the In Memoriam segment, which looks back at members of the film industry who have died since the last ceremony.

Variety says it is not yet known whether Streisand will appear alone or whether other voices will join the tribute. It would not be her first time performing at the Oscars. In 2013, she sang “The Way We Were” during the same segment, this time as a tribute to its composer, Marvin Hamlisch, who had died that same year.
The choice of Streisand is no coincidence. In 1973, she and Robert Redford starred together in The Way We Were, a film that won over both critics and audiences. The movie followed two college students in love whose relationship is strained, among other things, by their political differences.
