This is Travis Kelce’s favorite song on Taylor Swift’s new album “The Life of a Showgirl”
Taylor Swift released her 12th studio album “The Life of a Showgirl” on Friday, and on UK’s Heart Radio, she revealed fiancé Travis Kelce’s favorite track.
The internet and the world is going crazy for Taylor Swift’s newest album, “The Life of a Showgirl”, which she released at midnight Eastern Time on Friday. The 12-track album features songs about the singer’s personal life, which is typical, but as she said herself - this time, it’s much more relevant to her current personal life.
Swift recently got engaged to Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, shortly after finishing up her nearly two-year Eras Tour. The album is about the life behind the curtain. And in Swift’s life, that means a lot of Kelce.
Travis Kelce’s favorite Swift song from TLOAS
As was to be expected, Kelce is referenced in several of Swift’s songs from this album. There’s even a raunchier one about his...“manhood”. And while we all would have loved to have seen Kelce’s face when he heard that one for the first time, it turns out it’s not his top favorite on the album.
That title belongs to “Opalite” - a sweeter, more romantic song about Kelce.
“I think that’s his favorite. He loves that one,” Swift told Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton on Heart Radio’s Heart Breakfast.
The song itself is about Swift’s journey from failed relationships and heartbreak to finally finding happiness and love and a long-lasting partnership with Kelce. In the interview, she explains the title.
“I have favorite words, favorite phrases, things I’ll put in like an endless file of lyrics that I’m gonna constantly go and cherry pick from when I’m writing,” Swift explained. “And I had written down the word opalite because I had learned that it’s actually a man-made opal. Opal can be man-made just like diamonds. And Travis’ birth stone is opal, so it’s like...I’ve always fixated on that. I’ve always loved that stone. And I thought it was a kind of a cool metaphor that it’s a man-made opal, and happiness can be man-made, too.”
Kelce’s birthday is just two days after the release of the album, by the way, on October 5.

In the interview, Swift also reveals her personal favorite from the album - “Wi$h Li$t”. She explains that the song is all about the different desires and wishes people have - from playing for Real Madrid to living that “yacht life” - and what it is she truly desires. Spoiler alert: It’s Travis.
“I just want you, have a couple kids, got the whole block looking like you,” the lyrics read.“Got me dreaming about a driveway with a basketball hoop; boss up, settle down, got a wish list - I just want you.”
"Opalite" full lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I had a bad habit
Of missing lovers past
My brother used to call it
"Eating out of the trash"
It's never gonna last
I thought my house was haunted
I used to live with ghosts
And all the perfect couples
Said, "When you know, you know"
And, "When you don't, you don't"
[Pre-Chorus]
And all of the foes, and all of the friends (Ha, ha)
They've seen it before, they'll see it again (Ha, ha)
Life is a song, it ends when it ends
I was wrong
But my mama told me
[Chorus]
It's alright
You were dancing through the lightning strikes
Sleepless in the onyx night
But now the sky is opalite
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh my Lord
Never met no one likе you before
You had to make your own sunshinе
But now the sky is opalite
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
[Verse 2]
You couldn't understand it
Why you felt alone
You were in it for real
She was in her phone
And you were just a pose
And don't we try to love love? (Love love?)
We give it all we've got (Give it all we've got)
You finally left the table (Uh, uh)
And what a simple thought
You're starving 'til you're not
[Pre-Chorus]
And all of the foes and all of the friends (Ha, ha)
Have messed up before, they'll mess up again (Ha, ha)
Life is a song, it ends when it ends
You move on
And that's when I told you
[Chorus]
It's alright
You were dancing through the lightning strikes
Sleepless in the onyx night
But now the sky is opalite
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh my Lord
Never met no one like you before
You had to make your own sunshine
But now the sky is opalite
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
[Bridge]
This is just a storm inside a teacup
But shelter here with me, my love
Thunder like a drum
This life will beat you up, up, up, up
This is just a temporary speed bump
But failure brings you freedom
And I can bring you love, love, love, love, love
Don't you sweat it, baby
[Chorus]
It's alright
You were dancing through the lightning strikes
Oh, so sleepless in the onyx night
But now the sky is opalite
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh my Lord
Never met no one like you before (No)
You had to make your own sunshine
But now the sky is opalite
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
