Ralph Fiennes is famous both for playing Voldemort in the ‘Harry Potter’ saga and his award-winning performances. Here’s what the actor looks like today.
Ralph Fiennes is known for playing one of the greatest villains in movie history, having brought to life Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter saga. The actor appeared in five of the eight films in the series, as well as the 2022 special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
Fiennes was born in Suffolk, England, on September 22, 1962, and turned 62 this year. He has an extensive career in film and theater. The star trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London between 1983 and 1985.
He made his film debut in 1992 as Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, but became internationally known for playing Commander Amon Göth in the film Schindler’s List, directed by Steven Spielberg. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.
In the 2000s, Fiennes gained worldwide prominence for portraying Lord Voldemort, first appearing in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005).
He reprised his role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), as well as both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2010 and 2011). This is what the actor looked like in 2005 when he first appeared in the Harry Potter series.

Throughout his career, Fiennes has starred in a number of critically acclaimed films, including Schindler’s List (1993), Quiz Show (1994), The English Patient (1996), The End of the Affair (1999), The Constant Gardener (2005), In Bruges, The Duchess, and The Reader (all in 2008), The Hurt Locker (2009), and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
His most recent projects include No Time to Die (2021), The Menu (2022), Conclave (2024) and The Return (2024). Next year he will appear in The Choral and 28 Years Later, in which he will sport a striking change of look.
His most notable honors include two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for Schindler’s List and The English Patient, as well as six BAFTA nominations, where he won for Schindler’s List.
He also has an Emmy nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Bernard and Doris and seven Golden Globe nominations.
